Marikay J. Green, M.Div., Pastor
Greetings and Welcome,
Thank you for stopping by our website to check us out and learn more about our church and by stopping on this page, specifically about me. I was appointed to serve both Westville United Methodist Church and Colonial Manor United Methodist Church on July 1, 2018. I am in my 12th year serving as a pastor. I am a cradle United Methodist as I was born into the church being that my father was a United Methodist Pastor. While growing up, I remained active in the various churches he served through the years. While in college, I made a commitment to be active in church because I quickly discovered, life just wasn't right when I didn't participate in the life of the church. Having grown up as a preacher's kid, it was not a life I really wanted to have. I lived the challenges of being the pastor's family growing up and wanted out, but not so far out I didn't need God.I stopped running from my call into ministry in 2004 when I stepped through the door to attend seminary and see what and who God was calling me to be.
I am bivocational, meaning that I am pastoring churches and work a full-time career outside of the church. I believe God is calling me at this time to serve small membership congregations, who can not afford a full-time pastor. When this journey began, it is certainly not what I had in mind for myself or my family, but here we are. The truth is I love serving God as a pastor and shepherd of a congregation. I never thought I would but here I am.
I know all too well life is not easy but I know without a doubt my Savior lives and Jesus keeps me day to day, moment by moment and without him I would not survive. Being a Christian is more than a just something to believe in. It is a web of relationships with God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and the community of believers who make up the church. My relationship with God keeps me grounded and focused on who I am and who we can be together as a body of believers. I do and I care, not because I have to but because God has already done so much for me and for each of us, we have plenty to share and spread around. These relationships change me today, tomorrow, and to infinity and beyond. God is my purpose, my strength, and my hope for today, tomorrow, and always.
If you are looking for a place to belong, a place to feel welcome, a place to seek answers to questions you have and ones you didn't even know you had, you are welcome here and I would welcome the opportunity to welcome you, into this wonderful and challenging journey of relationships and faith we have in Christ through Westville United Methodist Church
May you know God is always with you,
Pastor Marikay
